Event Notice: Fernleigh 15 Fun Run Event – Sun 20 Oct 2024 6.30am – 11.30am
H Events has received permission from both Newcastle and Lake Macquarie City Councils and Police to run a community fun run and walking event on the Fernleigh Track. The event will take place on Sunday the 20th October. This exciting and positive health event may also present disruptionsto regular trackusers, residents who live adjacent to thetrack, businesses of Kahibah, Whitebridge, Redhead andBelmont motorists who travel along routes which intersect the Fernleightrack. We would appreciate if you could note the following activity and if possible moderate your travel or activity until after the event.
Outline ofEvent
Start:Park Ave entrance to Fernleigh Track,Adamstown
Start times:7:30am – 8:15am (start in groups spaced 5 minutes apart. Set up from 6.00am)
Route: The entire length of the track (Adamstown to Belmont) with a 100m out and back section along Cowlishaw Rd,Redhead. (This section makes the course exactly 15km)
Finish: Belmont Railway Platform 8:00am – 11:00am
No of participants: 1500 (including 10 wheelchair competitors)
Fernleigh TrackClosures : A rolling closure of the track will be in place from 7:00am to 10:30am. During this time the track will be closed to cyclists and event participants will have right of way over pedestrian users. After the last of the participants have passed the track will be reopened from Adamstown through to Belmont.
Road Crossing : motorists may experience short delays on crossing the track at:

5.Kalaroo RdJewells
6.Railway StBelmont
A Public Address system (PA): will be in use on the start line from 7:00am – 8:15am. There will be large numbers of athletes crossing Park Avenue from StPius X to the Fernleigh track at this time.
Finish LineActivities - The finish area at Belmont Railway platform will have the following activity:
-Public Address system in use from 8:15am to11:00am

Course Marshals and TrafficControllers; Accredited traffic controllers will be in place on roads and course marshals and volunteers are from local running clubs, Charlestown Rotary and St Pius X High School.
